VELP RESPIROMETRIC SENSOR: A WORLD OF APPLICATIONS PACKED INTO ONE POWERFUL SENSOR!
Compact design, ease of use, and high versatility: the VELP Respirometric Sensor is the best choice for high-performance and productivity laboratories.

The RESPIROMETRIC Sensor is a powerful pressure sensor that easily fits on VELP bottles and enables different aerobic and anaerobic analysis when combined with the specific analysis kit:
  • BOD
  • Biodegradability of plastics in an aqueous medium and soil
  • Soil respiration
  • BMP
  • Denitrification analysis, and more ...
VELP RESPIROMETRIC SENSOR: A WORLD OF APPLICATIONS PACKED INTO ONE POWERFUL SENSOR!
The RESPIROMETRIC Sensor is managed by the powerful RESPIROSoft™ software that is highly intuitive and easy to use right from the start. It enables the operator to:
  • Monitor the analysis curve in real-time
  • Read the most essential information on the display
  • Monitor the sensor's battery
  • Find and use preinstalled methods
  • Customize test reports
  • Make results comparison
Based on the type of analysis, results are provided in different measurement units:
  • BOD (mg/l)
  • BMP (NmLCH4/gSV)
  • Pressure (millibar)
The innovative connection to the Wireless DataBoxTM combines the features mentioned above to high performance, reproducibility, and premium connectivity thanks to the VELP Ermes Cloud platform, through which it is possible to:
  • control the analysis in real-time, without directly verifying the instrument, risking influencing the analysis conditions
  • simultaneously connect a maximum of 48 sensors (8 stirring stations)
Let's explore together all the analyses that can be run with the innovative VELP RESPIROMETRIC Sensor!

Aerobic Respirometric Determination

Aerobic Respirometric Determination
Aerobic Respiration is a biological process in which microorganisms break down organic matter, in the presence of oxygen, into carbon dioxide (CO2).

The VELP RESPIROMETRIC Sensor enables you to perform:
  • Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD): used to analyze organic pollution in water
  • Biodegradation of Monomers: used for evaluating the biodegradability of monomers and polymers for the production of plastics
  • Biodegradability of plastic materials in an aqueous medium: used to determine the degree of aerobic biodegradability of plastic materials, including those containing formulation additives
  • Biodegradability of plastic materials in the soil: used to obtain the optimal rate of biodegradation of plastic material in a test soil by controlling soil moisture and determining the ultimate biodegradability of the material
  • Soil respiration: is an important indicator of soil health since it indicates the level of biological activity, soil organic matter, and decomposition. In the laboratory, soil respiration is used to estimate soil microbial biomass

Anaerobic Respirometric Determination

Anaerobic Respirometric Determination
Anaerobic Respiration is a biological process in which microorganisms break down organic matter, in the absence of oxygen, into biogas.

The VELP RESPIROMETRIC Sensor enables you to perform:
  • Biochemical Methane Potential Determination – BMP: is used to evaluate the bio methanization potential of organic wastes to determine the quantity of biogas or methane that can be produced by the unit by weight of the organic substance. It is also useful for the determination of the quantity of biological waste for transformation into renewable energy
  • Denitrification analysis: denitrification consists of the reduction of nitrites and nitrates to compounds without fertilizing action through anaerobic denitrifying bacteria present in the soil. The denitrification reaction defines the COD/N parameter, i.e. the ratio between COD and the nitrate concentration to be removed. In order to run this test, it is necessary to upgrade the system by adding 6 optional bottles code A00000410 - 1000 ml clear bottle with the lateral neck.
