HOW TO OPTIMIZE TOTAL KJELDAHL NITROGEN DETERMINATION IN WATER AND WASTEWATER

07/04/2022

Connect with the VELP Academy and learn how to achieve accurate results and optimize your Kjeldahl analysis for low Nitrogen determination by reducing time, energy, and consumption.
Nitrogen occurs in various forms in nature. In the Nitrogen cycle, it is repeatedly transformed and then frequently enters water and wastewater through fertilizers, human and animal excretions, or waste products from manufacturing industries. For these samples, with low Nitrogen content, the TKN analysis requires a high sample volume.

As a consequence, foam formation and violent bumping may occur during the digestion of the liquid sample, causing an acid splash on the test tube wall. Beyond slowing down the most time-consuming step of the Kjeldahl analysis, this can lead to sample loss and inaccurate results that underestimate the nitrogen content.

The new VELP Mineralization Rod enables you to avoid these possible issues and optimize Kjeldahl analysis for Nitrogen determination in liquid samples with low Nitrogen content.

Join our specialists and discover how to speed up digestion and ensure accurate results in distillation as well as better efficiency within your laboratory.
